GOSSIP
Nic was knocked out by his surprise 60th Birthday party held in the Victorian Kirkgate Street within the Castle Museum in York. Over a 100 friends turned up to celebrate with him and enjoy great music from Duncan McFarlane, Steve Fairholme and Anne Brivonese; duo Robin Garside and Paul Gough, and Phil Beer joining in later in the evening, providing Nic with a fantastic trip down his personal musical memory lane.
Nic and Julia's first grandchild arrived on 1st February, a little boy now smiling away and a happy, bright little chap. He's already into music having been exposed to Mozart, Liam O'Flynn and Nic Jones since his pre-natal days!
The Duncan McFarlane Band will be putting out a new CD in September entitled "All Rogues & Villains" so do keep a look out for it on this site or under www.duncanmcfarlane.co.uk
Great to hear that Dave Burland will be doing more gigs and festivals now that he has retired from his job in York. Always a fantastic performer and singing as well as he ever did, it will be super to be able to see and hear more from him. www.daveburland.com for further details.
Dave Moran (The Halliard) has finally returned permantly to the northern hemisphere and is residing in southern Ireland. It is taking a while to set things up after a major upheaval, but Olde Musick and Olde Musick & Cokery Books should be up and running fairly soon.
Those of you who have bought The Halliard: Broadside Songbook and CDs will be familiar with the work of John Bushby. John and Caroline and their son, Malcolm (an exceptional young fiddle player) are now permanently resident in Newcastle after relocating from Tasmania, and are doing bookings again making fine music. (www.johnandcarolinebushby.webeden.co.uk)
John also has his insturment making and repairing business up and running (www.jbmusic-repairs.webeden.co.uk) Nic has two whistles John made for him and is now trying to regain some of his old dexterity on them.
